Details | John Elway's Crown Toyota in Ontario, CA

The Toyota Prius has always stood for a particular kind of customer, suggest auto critic Tom Voelk in his review for The New York Times: environmentally conscious, not terribly concerned with style. More about substance. For 2017, Toyota has moved the Prius forward, albeit in an evolutionary manner. Click "play" in the video clip below to watch his full report.

The new model is more streamlined, with longer lines. jauntier hind quarter and distinctive new taillights. If Prius still doesn’t look like a traditional car, though, it drives more like one now. It’s quieter with reduced engine roar and less moaning and droning from the continuously variable transmission.

This Prius sits on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform that the next-generation Camry will ride on. A new multilink rear suspension upgrades Prius’s ride quality and handling to an average dynamic. Prius is the most efficient car you can buy without having to plug in (though the Prius Prime, a four-passenger plug-in version with an estimated all-electric range of 22 miles, is expected late this year). Voelk easily netted 52 miles per gallon.
