AYES Mentoring Part of Playbook at John Elway’s Crown Toyota
Nancy King, Service Director at John Elway’s Crown Toyota in Ontario, Calif., has always been one to see the big picture. And Nancy’s ability to see the entire field of play, much like the famous namesake of this 7th largest Toyota dealership, helps account for the service department’s success. That… and having lots of talent and deep bench to draw on.
With 68 bays, 85 employees, including nine teams of four service techs (“We use the team approach,” Nancy notes.) plus another 11 LOF and light maintenance techs, there’s plenty of on-field action to coordinate.
King uses the AYES model to locate and develop talent with the help of George Root, AYES instructor at Ontario High School. Nancy first became involved with AYES mentoring five years ago when George “walked into my office and laid out the model and process. What sold me was the employability skills training the students receive from George,” says King.
